Fossil energy does not last forever. What we do have is wind, water, and sun. Renewable energy that we utilize in the form of electrons and molecules. With this, we are building a clean and enterprising Netherlands. We are establishing ourselves as an energy-independent country *and* as an energy hub for hydrogen towards Northwest Europe.

We need to flip that switch *now*. The cabinet already has the plans in place, the business community—from heavy industry to SMEs—is participating, we have the knowledge institutions and the education sector, and the residents of the Netherlands want clean energy, a home, and a job in a pleasant country. If we get started now, and keep doing it now, we can reap the benefits. What are we waiting for? It is time. For a clean and enterprising Netherlands, Hydrogen Country.

In the Netherlands, we have climate goals aimed at limiting our CO2 emissions as much as possible. This starts with more energy from sustainable sources such as sun and wind. But hydrogen can also help us. For example, as a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels. Hydrogen is also easy to store in large quantities. A nice reserve for those moments when sustainable energy sources like sun or wind fail to deliver. Or vice versa: when there is an abundance of solar and wind energy.
