Holthausen Energy Points: Pioneering Hydrogen Infrastructure in Amsterdam

At H2A we are proud to welcome Holthausen Energy Points as a partner in our mission to make Amsterdam Europe’s leading hub for hydrogen. Holthausen is a true pioneer in developing hydrogen infrastructure for both mobility and industry, combining vision, innovation, and practical implementation.

Holthausen’s mission is simple yet ambitious: to make emission-free energy accessible to everyone. For years, the company has been at the forefront of hydrogen solutions, demonstrating how clean energy can move from ambition to reality.

That vision became tangible in 2023, when Holthausen opened a permanent hydrogen station at Beiraweg 3a in Westpoort, Amsterdam. Unlike most stations, this facility does more than just dispense fuel, it also produces hydrogen on-site and offers cylinder filling for industrial applications. The station shows how hydrogen can already serve both transport and industrial demand directly from the port.

By 2026, Holthausen will take another leap forward with the completion of the first phase of a 5 megawatt hydrogen production plant, spread across Amsterdam and Groningen. Half of this capacity will be dedicated to mobility, powering heavy trucks, vans, and taxis, while the other half will supply ultra-pure hydrogen cylinders (99.999%) for industry. With this step, Holthausen is scaling up hydrogen production in a way that directly supports Amsterdam’s energy transition.

The company is also an active part of a growing hydrogen cluster in the region. Together with partners including the Port of Amsterdam, Nouryon, and Tata Steel, Holthausen is helping to build what will become Europe’s largest green hydrogen cluster. This collaboration is not only a technological achievement, but also a signal of confidence in hydrogen as a cornerstone of the future energy system.

Holthausen Energy Points demonstrates how vision, innovation, and collaboration can translate into concrete progress. Their work shows that Amsterdam is no longer only a logistics hub, but also a breeding ground for sustainable energy. By connecting production, mobility, and industrial applications, Holthausen proves that the hydrogen economy is already underway and accelerating.

We are delighted to welcome Holthausen Energy Points to H2A and look forward to working together to strengthen Amsterdam’s position as Europe’s hydrogen gateway.
