Firan Hydrogen Joins H2A to Strengthen Hydrogen Infrastructure in the Amsterdam Region
The H2A Association is pleased to welcome Firan as a new partner. Firan joins H2A at a time when hydrogen is becoming an increasingly central pillar of Europe’s decarbonisation efforts and when the Amsterdam region is advancing rapidly as a hub for hydrogen production, import, and distribution.
Firan is part of Alliander Next Grid and focuses on the development and implementation of infrastructure for new energy networks, including hydrogen and heat networks. Building on Alliander’s long-standing expertise, Firan has been working since 2013 on innovative network solutions that connect industry, businesses, and mobility to sustainable energy sources.
In the port of Amsterdam area, Firan is actively involved in the design and development of the regional hydrogen network H2avannet, which connects entry and exit points across the hydrogen value chain. This network is intended to support companies that wish to produce, transport, or use hydrogen in the future and forms a crucial link between hydrogen import, storage, production, and end use.
The importance of this regional hydrogen network was underscored during the H2A Symposium 2025, where H2avannet was officially launched and signed in the presence of partners from across the hydrogen ecosystem. The signing marked an important milestone in the development of hydrogen infrastructure in and around the port of Amsterdam and highlighted the role of collaboration between public and private stakeholders.
Firan’s decision to join H2A aligns closely with the association’s mission to bring together public and private stakeholders around the development of a robust hydrogen ecosystem connected to the Port of Amsterdam. As investments in hydrogen infrastructure continue to grow, reliable and well-integrated networks are essential to ensure effective functioning of the hydrogen value chain.
By joining H2A, Firan strengthens collaboration between infrastructure developers, ports, industry, and public authorities. Within the H2A partnership, Firan will contribute its expertise in network development while engaging in knowledge sharing and alignment on projects that are strategically important for the Amsterdam region and for the Netherlands more broadly.
H2A looks forward to working with Firan and its partners to support the development of future-proof hydrogen infrastructure that contributes to a climate-neutral economy.
