Connectors in the green
hydrogen value chain

North Atlantic

H2A is pleased to welcome North Atlantic as the newest member of our growing association. Their membership marks a significant step forward in H2A’s mission to accelerate the development of hydrogen import supply chains through the Port of Amsterdam.

Headquartered in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador (NL), Canada, North Atlantic has been a leader in the energy industry in the region for more than 30 years. Its group of companies, NARL Marketing LP, North Sun Energy, NARL Logistics LP, and Terra Velo Solutions (TVS), collectively manage a robust energy and logistics network across Atlantic Canada supplying customers with gasoline, diesel, marine fuel, heating oil, and jet fuel.

North Atlantic operates an ice-free deep-water terminal with a jetty capable of accommodating Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs), two vessel berths equipped with ten loading arms and seven loading lines and a tank farm with an installed storage capacity of 4 MM barrels. Building on this infrastructure and its experience in hydrocarbon handling, terminal services and project management, North Atlantic is developing a Green Energy Hub with the potential for 1,100 MW of wind energy, a hydrogen generation plant with the capacity to produce 100,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year, and hydrogenation and dehydrogenation facilities with the capacity to convert the hydrogen to a Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carrier (LOHC) for export.

Backed by Silverpeak, an alternative investment firm with deep expertise in energy infrastructure, North Atlantic is currently advancing the first phase of its Green Energy Hub with a 320 MW windfarm and hydrogen generation plant with the capacity to produce 30,000 tonnes of RFNBO-certified green hydrogen, positioning NL as a vital supplier of green hydrogen to Europe. The first Phase will enter commercial operation in 2029.

As a member of H2A, North Atlantic brings valuable expertise and concrete momentum to our shared ambition: building a global, integrated hydrogen value chain. Their strategic focus on LOHC technology aligns closely with H2A’s priorities, and we are excited to explore synergies, particularly in relation to developing a green hydrogen corridor between Newfoundland and the Port of Amsterdam.

We look forward to supporting North Atlantic on their journey and working together to realize a more sustainable energy future.
