Celebrating Chris Slootweg’s Professorship in Circular Chemistry

On September 1st, 2024, Chris Slootweg, was appointed Professor of Circular Chemistry at the Faculty of Science, University of Amsterdam, a knowledge partner of H2A. He officially accepted the professorship by delivering an inaugural lecture on Friday, March 7th, 2025, titled: Green and Circular Chemistry: A Radical Redesign

In his lecture, Chris emphasized the critical role of technology transfer into the market and need transfer back into the lab, ensuring that scientific research translates into relevant scientific and societal impact. His research group actively works on developing technologies that apply fundamental scientific knowledge to real-world sustainability challenges, from the energy transition to circular material use.

This philosophy closely aligns with H2A’s mission to bridge the gap between academic research and industrial application in the hydrogen sector. With Chris’s expertise and unwavering commitment to connecting cutting-edge research with practical applications, we see limitless opportunities to advance sustainable hydrogen and circular chemistry initiatives.

Congratulations, Chris, on this prestigious achievement! We look forward to seeing the transformative work that will come from your leadership in circular chemistry and intensifying the relationships between H2A partners.
