Achieving breakthroughs in hydrogen imports

Bart van der Meer 

Chairman of H2A

Focussing on the energy Transition and Evos’ future. Bart has a strong focus on Green Hydrogen delivered on various vectors like Ammonia and LOHC. Besides Hydrogen, he also focuses on synthetic fuels (like eSAF) and bioFuels.

Bart has always had a strong and clear focus on innovation and new technologies and is broadening Evos business offers from liquids (molecule) storage to also electron (Green energies) in a broader view. His background in the storage and handling business of liquid energy carriers in multiple jobs in various port areas in the Netherlands allows him to find the new opportunities and possibilities. Using existing (port)infrastructure and re-utilization of Evos’ assets is a key driver to initiate steps in the Energy transition without having to build from scratch. Bart has worked for Evos for 3 years but has been in the industry for more than 25 years.

Gert-Jan Nieuwenhuizen

Gert-Jan Nieuwenhuizen started at Port of Amsterdam in April 2000 as Commercial Manager Containers, Food and Logistics. His career at Port of Amsterdam included a 5-year stationing overseas in Shanghai, China as Sales Director Asia and Chief Representative. As such, Mr. Nieuwenhuizen has extensive experience in the international maritime sector. Mr. Nieuwenhuizen has a master degree in maritime economics & logistics at Erasmus University.

Since October 2013, Mr. Nieuwenhuizen is the Managing Director of Port of Amsterdam International B.V. (PoAI), a 100% subsidiary of the Port of Amsterdam Group. PoAl uses the experience and expertise of the port authority to assist foreign ports in port development and management as well as cruise development and management. This experience and expertise is very applicable to the challenges faced by ports worldwide.
PoAl is also responsible for international business development by developing an international network to strengthen trading ties.

Since January 2022, this part of PoAl is integrated in Port of Amsterdam, with Mr. Nieuwenhuizen as Head of Business Development. Mr. Nieuwenhuizen is advisor to the board of Port of Amsterdam on international developments, business development and projects.

Ellen Ruhotas

Ellen Ruhotas plays a key role in advancing liquid hydrogen solutions, combining decades of expertise in midstream operations within the bulk liquid storage and maritime industries to drive the transition to cleaner energy. With a proven track record in engineering, operations, and commercial management across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and Oceania, Ellen is at the forefront of developing innovative solutions for the new energy era.

Awarded the prestigious Hydrogen Medal, Ellen has been a driving force behind Amsterdam’s emergence as a global hydrogen hub. She has forged key partnerships with countries such as Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Germany, facilitating progress in liquid hydrogen as a viable and sustainable transportation solution. Her efforts have included the development of facilities for hydrogen import, storage, distribution, and regasification in Amsterdam.

Ellen holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical/Industrial) with First Class Honours from the University of New South Wales, as well as an MBA and Bachelor of Laws from Macquarie University, with First Class Honours. A multilingual international commercial arbitrator fluent in English and Greek, Ellen’s global expertise and leadership have consistently shaped energy management, corporate strategy, and international supply chains.

Dr Andreas Lehmann

Dr Andreas Lehmann joined Hydrogenious LOHC as Head of Strategy in 2020, becoming Chief Strategy Officer in October 2022 and serving as Chief Executive Officer since early 2025. He is responsible for company strategy, finance, human resources, IT, policy & regulation, communications, purchasing and strategic partnerships. 

Before his time at Hydrogenious LOHC, Andreas received a PhD in engineering at the University of Erlangen Nürnberg and the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. After that he was project manager at McKinsey and Company in their Hydrogen Strategy team in Germany. His motivation is to make green hydrogen fly and contribute to a decarbonized future using Hydrogenious’ LOHC technology as an enabler of the green energy revolution.

Ingrid Post

Ingrid Post is Program Director Sustainable Industry and Energytransition North Sea Canal Area. She works on behalf of a public private partnership which aims to accelerate the energytransition in the industry cluster North Sea Canal Area. She also is the coordinator of the Hydrogen Valley North Holland which connects all the hydrogen initiatives in the region. Before Ingrid worked at several positions in the national government administration (Ministry of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Internal Affairs). She holds a Master Degree International Relations at the University of Groningen. Her motivation is to create a sustainable industry with new value chains like hydrogen in the Netherlands and the North Sea Canal Area in particularly and to contribute to a decarbonized future.

Ilknur Dönmez

İlknur Dönmez is the Director of Economic Affairs and Culture (EZC) at the City of Amsterdam. The Directorate of Economic Affairs and Culture focuses on working together to create a sustainable and innovative region, where culture, employment, and future perspectives for the residents of Amsterdam and the region are central. EZC contributes to strengthening Amsterdam’s economic power, with attention to local economies, the broad social development of the city and its residents and enhancing Amsterdam’s economic position both nationally and internationally.

İlknur completed her master’s degree in business mathematics and informatics at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. She has gained extensive experience in both the corporate sector and various levels of government, including municipal, regional, and national government. Since June 2024, she has been working for the City of Amsterdam. İlknur is a generalist with broad substantive knowledge and a strong passion for economic and social issues. This has translated into previous roles such as head of economic affairs and airport affairs at the municipality of Haarlemmermeer and as a member of the management team of the directorate of Entrepreneurship at the Ministry of Economic affairs and Climate policy.

Santosh Raikar  

Santosh isresponsible for leading the firm’s new renewable energy sector platform. Santosh has more than 20 years of experience in energy and infrastructure project finance, including renewable energy, oil & gas, power, and midstream infrastructure assets. Prior to joining Silverpeak, he was a Managing Director in the Renewable Energy Investments Group at State Street where he was responsible for leading a team in originating, structuring, and executing tax equity investments in the U.S. renewable energy sector. Santosh previously worked at Deutsche Bank and Lehman Brothers in Principal Investment areas. He holds two Master of Science degrees, one in Technology and Policy Program from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the other in Electrical Engineering from Arizona State University, as well as a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Mumbai. Santosh also teaches a full-semester graduate level course titled “Renewable Energy Investments” at Carroll School of Management (Boston College). His book, Renewable Energy Finance: Theory and Practice, is in the second edition that was published in September 2024.

Tadhg Deasy  

He is Managing Director of Sunoco LP’s European operations, which include terminals in Amsterdam, Netherlands and Bantry Bay, Ireland. He manages the terminals’ operations, finances, maintenance, capital projects, safety and environmental compliance, quality assurance and growth initiatives. Prior to this role, Tadhg worked for Zenith Energy where he served in various roles such as Engineering/Maintenance & Projects Lead, Terminal Manager, Director of Major Capital Projects, and General Manager & Head of European Projects. Sunoco LP acquired Zenith Energy’s European terminals in 2024.

Tadhg holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering from the Cork Institute of Technology.
